New listing: Rocket Pool (RPL)

September 6, 2023

After the collapse of Sillicon Valley Bank last weekend, the prices of stocks and cryptocurrencies fell. As of yesterday afternoon, it is mainly cryptocurrencies that are rapidly rising in price again. To add to that positive news, we have another new listing to announce today: Rocket Pool (RPL) is available for trading at BCM!

What is Rocket Pool?

Rocket Pool is a decentralized blockchain platform built on the Ethereum network. It allows users to stake Ethereum (ETH) without having to manage their own validators. Validators are nodes that help confirm transactions on the Ethereum network and are essential to its operation.

Rocket Pool allows users to deploy their ETH and earn rewards for keeping the network safe. The platform distributes users' ETH bets across a decentralized network of validators, reducing risk and optimizing returns.

Rocket Pool also offers a system of rewards and penalties to ensure that validators remain fair and trustworthy. The platform is designed to provide a high degree of decentralization, making the Ethereum network more secure and robust.

There are two tokens issued by Rocket Pool. The first is rETH, an ERC-20 token that can be traded. rETH represents a user's share of the total staked ETH amount and can be traded for ETH or other cryptocurrencies. Staking ETH actually locks it in for a longer period of time, so it is not possible to just send or sell it. the rETH can be sold, however. This counts as proof of the strike deposit, so the person who buys rETH is also entitled to the ETH when it is removed from strike. RPL is Rocket Pool's native token and is used for monitoring, as is done with the native tokens of other DAOs. Node operators receive RPL as a reward for managing a node.

The BCM platform

For now, the new BCM trading environment is only available on iOS(BCM - Buying Bitcoin & crypto). This means that if you want to trade on the web, it must be done on the old platform(bitcoinmeester.co.uk). Also for Android, the old app will remain available until the new app is ready. All transactions, balances and other information is the same for the different apps and website. Thus, there is no difference in price or offerings.
